ABOUT

Arabella Christina Stewart

I grew up in Ethiopia as the daughter of British broadcast journalists for an international radio station in the capital Addis Ababa. After leaving Ethiopia due to political turbulence in 1974, I lived in the UK, Seychelles, and the USA before returning to Ethiopia in 2009.

I accepted a position to teach English in Addis as an English teacher for an International School while I developed my educational charity http://www.projectpencilcase.org  which supports the material needs of Ethiopian students.

In 2014 I helped develop social enterprise http://www.arakeleplc.org which trains primarily women from vulnerable backgrounds to sew and design and connects them to employment opportunities, including hiring graduates to work in our new production unit.

I have provided freelance English Editing, Writing and Voice over work to local and international clients whilst based in Ethiopia since 2010; in 2013 I became the English Editor/Senior Writer for the monthly lifestyle magazine What’s Out Addis http://www.whatsoutaddis.com.

Today I divide my time between Ethiopia, UK and USA working remotely on my various local and international projects and assignments as necessary.

Please see the ARTICLES page for a selection of my published articles – I particularly enjoy writing about Entrepreneurship and highlighting Artisans.
